Gunmen In Pakistan Target Polio Vaccinators

Rotarians –

We are reminded every so often about how difficult it can be to stand-up for international peace and understanding. There is bad news in the quest to eliminate polio. Yesterday, six vaccination workers, all women, were gunned down in Pakistan due to their involvement in the polio eradication effort.

Pakistani officials vowed that the polio vaccination initiative will not be deterred. The full story, as reported today on NPRs Morning Edition, can be found here.

As difficult as our various missions may be, we are working with great people from many nations and many cultures. We give hope and support where it is needed.

Thank you for being a Rotarian.
