The Rotary Clubs of Springfield have been selected to receive the 2026 Toast to Tourism Impact Award for their work on Birthplace Plaza. The project celebrates Springfield’s unique connection to the birth of Route 66 while demonstrating how Rotary collaboration, tourism, and community investment can help build local economies.
Springfield’s five Rotary Clubs have united through a District Simplified Grant to support a major public art installation celebrating the Route 66 Centennial at Birthplace Plaza. The project, created in partnership with Sculpture Walk Springfield and internationally recognized artist Juan Garaizabal, reflects Rotary’s commitment to Community Economic Development by strengthening local cultural and economic vitality. This initiative highlights how collaborative Rotary efforts can preserve regional heritage while enriching the experience of residents and visitors alike.
Rotary Clubs across Missouri collected more than 43,000 pairs of new shoes, over 14,000 pairs of socks, and more than $56,000 for vulnerable children served by Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls®.
Rotary Work Day at Wonderland Camp will be Saturday, April 13. Coffee will be available at 8 a.m. and work will be done between 9 a.m. and about 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
