Fellow Rotarians of District 6080,
It is the time to perform one of the most crucial functions of our organization: the selection of the next Rotarian for service as District 6080 Governor for the 2016-17 Rotary year. If you desire to be a candidate, please see your club president for the appropriate nomination form for our district.
The responsibility of serving as Governor is a four year commitment serving as District Governor Nominee, District Governor Elect, District Governor, and Immediate Past District Governor. The commitment requires time and focus on behalf of the nominee as well as the personal and professional circumstances to allow for that commitment. If you are thinking about having your name submitted by your club for consideration as District Governor, it would be wise to obtain the counsel of a Past District Governor (PDG) to get an idea of the duties and commitments involved. We want there to be a good match between the responsibilities of the office and strengths of the nominee. The endorsement of your club is a necessity as the club will support your commitment for four years.
Obviously a person’s demonstrated commitment to Rotary, The Rotary Foundation, and District level service will count heavily during the consideration process as we only want the best for our District.
This year the selection process will be led by Past District Governor (PDG) Rita Esterly. Also serving will be Immediate Past District Governor (iPDG) Mark Pearce and three sitting club presidents chosen by a blind draw. Two president alternates will also be chosen.
Please collaborate with your club president to fill out the nomination form. The club president must submit the form to the chair of the committee, Rita Esterly, by Saturday, November 30. An interview of the candidate(s) will be conducted within the first two weeks of December and it is the intention of the committee to announce the District 6080 Governor Nominee prior to the holidays.
