Urgent RYLA Message

Rotarians:

The RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) is an opportunity for high school youth to join others from around the state to learn more about leadership. One hundred students will be brought together at William Woods University in Fulton on Sunday June 23rd and will reside in dorms. The counselors stay in the dorms as well adding support on each floor. These students are divided into 10 teams of 10 students. Each team is run by a professional counselor and a volunteer Rotarian counselor. There is a set curriculum that they work through. The students and counselors are active from the minute they sign in until Wednesday evening’s award banquet. The academy is over on Wednesday, June 26th evening after the awards banquet.

We have had an unexpected loss of two male Rotarian counselors. We are in need of two willing male Rotarians that would step in and and fill these positions. They would be working with two female counselors that know the curriculum and what needs to be done. The professional counselor is the lead and the Rotarian counselor is there for experience and support. The counselors would need to be at William Woods University by 11 on Sunday, the 23rd and be able to stay through the banquet on Wednesday, June 26th which is usually over by 7pm. If you are interested, please contact Rachel Russell, program director, at 816-537-5099 or Cathy Libey, chair of Show Me RYLA Board, 573-338-8901. Please consider this service to our Missouri youth. I can guarantee you, you will be glad you did.

Thank you,
Cathy Libey
