Organ donation is one of the miraculous achievements of modern medicine. Unfortunately, while a small percentage get the chance of renewed life with successful transplants, many die waiting for a suitable organ. 90% of Americans say they support organ donation but only 30% say they know how to register as an organ donor!

The Rotary clubs of Columbia and mid-Missouri teamed up Saturday to reduce hunger and malnutrition. The clubs participated in a major work day at the Food Bank of Central and Northeast Missouri. Approximately 150 Rotarians and guests repackaged nearly 5,000 pounds of Rice Krispies for local food pantries.

Rotary clubs are having a tremendous impact on communities around the world. In southwest Uganda, Rotary members from Europe, Uganda, and the United States have teamed up with a pioneering doctor and two private entrepreneurs to address the needs of the Batwa Pygmies. Together, they’ve opened a nursing school to train badly needed caregivers for the entire region.
Rotary International released an additional $34.8 million in grants to support polio immunization activities in 10 countries, including Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Pakistan, the three countries where the disease has never been stopped.

Nisha Kotecha, a member of Rotaract in the United Kingdom, explains why it is critical for clubs to tell the public about the good work they are doing in their communities. Kotecha says her life and hundreds of others have been changed by one of the largest clubs in London. But outside of Rotary circles, the club is not widely known.
