Dr. Curt Elmore and Matt Simon from Missouri University of Science and Technology spoke about their research tolead to safer drinking water in Brazil during a March meeting of the RotaryClub of Pulaski County (Club #58661 of District 6080).

Elmore is a professor in the geological engineering department at S&T, and Simon is a graduate student there. The department has been studying drinking water issues in Guatemala and Brazil since 2002. In Brazil, they focused on sampling water and testing for cyanobacteria, which contain cyanotoxins that cause illness and even death in humans and animals.

Rotary International hosts international youth and friendship exchanges, supports international water projects and works to wipe out polio.
