Springfield Rotarian John Horton Selected As A Safeco Community Hero for Spring 2013

Springfield Southeast Rotarian John Horton has received a prestigious award for his work in keeping youth aware of and away from life-degrading drugs. And not only is it recognition he receives, but a cash award to go toward his important work.

Safeco Insurance Company has selected John Horton as a Safeco Community Hero for Spring 2013 from 172 high-quality applications. The Safeco Community Hero Award is designed to recognize local heroes who make a positive difference in their communities and inspire others to do the same.

The Safeco Community Hero Award comes with a $5,000 donation to the Community Hero’s non-profit organization, Don’t Meth With MO.

In addition, John and fifteen other award recipients nationally, will be entered into the “Vote for your favorite Safeco Community Hero” event, where the top vote-getter will win an additional $10,000 donation from Safeco for his or her nonprofit and the runner-up will win $5,000.

All Rotarians are urged to vote for John when voting begins on May 13th.

The Safeco Insurance Agent Giving Program supports the community involvement of Safeco agents and agencies by providing donations to nonprofit organizations focused on education, health and safety, or civic engagement. John was nominated by Safeco agent and fellow Rotarian Bill White.
