Oklahoma Rotary Districts 5750 and 5770 have now established a 501(c)3 fund. Contributions to the fund will be applied toward disaster relief and recovery from the massive tornado that tore through Moore, Oklahoma earlier this week.
I have received word of several not-for-profit agencies that are actively involved in meeting the immediate disaster needs in Moore, Oklahoma. Several of these organizations are represented within our Rotary membership. You may wish to consider them in your response to this crisis.
The film documentary “Deadline in Disaster” is a testament to their dedication in covering the unexpected and unfathomable disaster and its aftermath. The film foreshadows many of the impacts, emotions and challenges that will be experienced by residents of Moore, Oklahoma in the coming weeks.

In 2013, Marshfield Rotary Park was chosen as the Readers’ Choice Winner for Best Park. In 1982, the dream of the Rotary Park of Marshfield was made into a reality. What began as an unwanted piece of swampland is now a beautiful park that includes several pieces of playground equipment, tennis courts, softball and soccer fields, horseshoe pits and a walking/biking trail and the Rotary Park Peace Pavilion.

Springfield Southeast Rotarian John Horton has received a prestigious award for his work in keeping youth aware of and away from life-degrading drugs. And not only is it recognition he receives, but a cash award to go toward his important work.

Dr. Patricia Wolff founded Meds & Food for Kids (MFK) in 2003, after volunteering in Haiti as a medical missionary for 15 years. She was in despair of watching children die but knew it didn’t have to be that way. A Rotary International grant was instrumental in the organization’s early days…Ten years later, MFK remains proud and grateful for the continuing friendship with Rotary Clubs both close to home and around the world. On Sunday April 20, MFK participated in the Music for Peace concert in Jefferson City, MO at the State Capitol.
