Disaster Relief and Reconstruction

Most people are unfamiliar with the conflict and confusion that occurs between relief organizations in the aftermath of a major disaster. Rotary Peace Fellow Akis Kalaitzidis learned about this from firsthand accounts, and he relates some of the instances in his latest blog.

Dr. Patricia Wolff founded Meds & Food for Kids (MFK) in 2003, after volunteering in Haiti as a medical missionary for 15 years. She was in despair of watching children die but knew it didn’t have to be that way. A Rotary International grant was instrumental in the organization’s early days…Ten years later, MFK remains proud and grateful for the continuing friendship with Rotary Clubs both close to home and around the world. On Sunday April 20, MFK participated in the Music for Peace concert in Jefferson City, MO at the State Capitol.
